THE HEREAFTER • JUDGMENT • DIVINE JUSTICE

This life is meaningful.
And it is not the end.

Explore a powerful parable from the Tenth Word of the Risale-i Nur and examine how justice, mercy, wisdom, renewal, and revelation point toward resurrection and the Hereafter.

BEGIN THE INQUIRY ↓
01 • THE BIG QUESTION

If every account is not settled here, where is complete justice?

THE UNREWARDED GOOD

A person serves others for years but experiences hardship.

THE UNANSWERED WRONG

A person harms others yet escapes consequences in this life.

THE HUMAN LONGING

Our conscience still says that good and evil should not end the same way.

Islam teaches that earthly justice matters, but it is incomplete. Allah’s perfect judgment in the Hereafter brings every hidden action, intention, right, and injustice into the full account.

WATCH & REFLECT

What happens after we die?

As you watch, record one idea about resurrection and one question about judgment.

02 • A PARABLE WITH A DEEPER MEANING

Two travelers enter an extraordinary land.

Everything is abundant, ordered, and apparently unguarded. One traveler follows desire and assumes there is no owner or final consequence. The faithful friend reads the signs differently: order points to authority, provision points to generosity, and a temporary exhibition points beyond itself.

THE OBSTINATE TRAVELER

“I only believe what I can see.”

He uses the absence of immediate punishment as permission to take, harm, and ignore responsibility.

THE FAITHFUL FRIEND

“Look at the signs together.”

He argues that order, ownership, messages, constant arrivals, and departures make sense within a larger kingdom.

THE ETERNAL LAND

Resurrection and the Hereafter

This is a teaching parable, not a literal description of Allah or the unseen. Its comparisons help the mind reflect; revelation gives us the truths of the Hereafter.

04 • MANY SIGNS, ONE CONCLUSION

The Tenth Word develops twelve connected truths.

You do not need to memorize twelve labels. Follow the reasoning: qualities clearly displayed in creation are not meaningless, and Allah’s revealed promise of resurrection is true.

JUSTICE

Al-‘Adl • The Utterly Just

Many rights remain unsettled in this world. Final judgment completes—not replaces—our duty to seek justice here.

MERCY

Ar-Rahim • The All-Compassionate

The mercy seen throughout life points toward an eternal realm where Allah’s mercy is displayed completely.

WISDOM

Al-Hakim • The All-Wise

Purpose, measure, and meaningful order do not fit the idea that human life ends in total meaninglessness.

GENEROSITY & BEAUTY

Al-Karim • Al-Jamil

Temporary gifts awaken gratitude and longing for the lasting gifts Allah has promised.

PRESERVATION

Al-Hafiz • The Preserver

Nothing is lost to Allah’s knowledge. Deeds, intentions, and rights can be brought into a perfectly accurate account.

PROMISE

Revelation & Messengership

Allah repeatedly promises resurrection, judgment, Paradise, and Hell through His messengers.

09
THE SIGN OF RENEWAL

Dead earth comes alive again.

Season after season, Allah brings life from apparently lifeless earth. The Qur’an invites us to observe this renewal as a sign that the One who gives life the first time can resurrect creation.

“Look, then, at the traces of Allah’s mercy: how He gives life to the earth after its death. Surely He is the One Who will raise the dead to life.” Qur’an 30:50
05 • WHAT JUDGMENT MEANS

Perfect knowledge. Perfect justice. No forgotten detail.

RECKONING

Every person is accountable for faith, intentions, choices, words, and actions according to Allah’s perfect knowledge and justice.

PARADISE

Jannah is the eternal home of peace, nearness, joy, and reward that Allah has prepared for the faithful.

HELL

Jahannam is real and part of divine justice. We speak about it with seriousness, never using it to mock, threaten, or declare the fate of specific people.

06 • BELIEF CHANGES TODAY

The Hereafter makes every choice matter.

WHEN NO ONE SEES

Integrity means choosing what is right because Allah knows.

WHEN JUSTICE IS DELAYED

Hope in final justice prevents despair while we continue to repair wrongs now.

WHEN WE FAIL

Accountability leads to tawbah, apology, restoration, and change—not hopelessness.

WHEN LIFE FEELS SMALL

Ordinary kindness, honest work, patience, and worship gain eternal meaning.

Become a careful observer.

PART 1 • CHOOSE 3

PART 3 • CHOOSE 1

Create an 8–10 line dialogue, a modern version of the parable, or a three-photo essay with safe, permitted photos.

Submit: 1–2 organized pages next class. Include your name, date, headings, and complete sentences.

QUICK REVIEW

Can you follow the argument?

Does belief in final judgment mean we ignore injustice now?

No. Belief in accountability strengthens our duty to protect rights and seek justice in this life while trusting Allah with the complete judgment.

Is the parable a literal description of the unseen?

No. It is a comparison that helps us reason. Reliable knowledge about the unseen comes from Allah’s revelation.

What does spring renewal teach?

The One who repeatedly brings apparently dead earth to life has the power to resurrect human beings.

Why are Allah’s justice and mercy both important?

Judgment is perfectly just, while Allah’s mercy is vast. Neither quality cancels the other.
